ABOUT

About the festival

PYT’s annual SHORTCUTS Film Festival is Western Sydney’s premier short film festival for young people. The festival celebrates its 10th year in 2013 and is recognised as the premier short film festival in the region by showcasing the best emerging talent and creating industry pathways for participants.

SHORTCUTS was created in response to a burgeoning film culture in Sydney’s Western suburbs. The festival has experienced exponential growth since its inception in 2003. It has blossomed from a small gathering of local filmmakers to a large-scale event that engages interest from across greater Western Sydney and in 2011 attracted over $10K in sponsorship.

SHORTCUTS is open to films under 7 minutes created by anyone under the age of 25 who lives, works or studies in Sydney’s west.

SHORTCUTS is an initiative of PYT and is presented in partnership with Fairfield City Council the Information and Cultural Exchange and ArtsNSW.
